Shaunelle was born with a genetic retina condition that caused her partial blindness. Despite her condition, she was able to achieve the highest Canadian record in Long Jump for Para-athletics Canada. She believes that "you can have a vision without sight". She is also a single mother who is studying social work at York University. Through this rewarding career Shaunelle recognizes the importance of providing individuals with resources and support for their emotional wellbeing during times of crisis. She founded the Listening Ear Project, where she organizes peer meet-ups at parks to provide support and resources for those in need
